On the Issues
South Dakota and America FirstSouth Dakota, while a proud member of the United States, should never sacrifice its own well-being to please others, whether it’s a large multinational corporation, collegiate athletic organizations, or another state.
We need to stand firm for our state and its citizens. TaxesThe influx of new arrivals has caused a spike in land and home prices with a resulting rise in property taxes. We cannot tax our citizens out of their homes, off their land, and out of their state.
I will hold the line and never vote to raise your taxes or support any increase in an existing tax. We need to reduce and eliminate sales tax on groceries. The difference should come from taxing marijuana sales. |
South Dakota Economy
Our state economy is doing well but can and needs to do better. Everywhere I travel I see help wanted signs. People need to get back to work! Unemployment payments should not be greater than wages; they’re designed as safety nets, not a permanent fix. We need to encourage clean light industries to establish themselves in South Dakota.
State government spending needs to remain flat.

Protecting American Education
Our children, our most precious citizens, are under direct assault by Marxist ideas as expressed in the 1619 Project designed to rewrite American history and Critical Race Theory designed to divide our children from one another and from their families. I will fight these ideologies with every fiber of my being!
We need to get the federal government out of our schools and keep curriculum development at the state and local levels. We need to ensure that local school boards remain strong and have the tools necessary to resist out-of-state interest groups that are against American values.

Timber
In District 31, timber remains one of our economic mainstays. We need to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect this valuable natural resource.
We need a reevaluation of the USFS general technical report which presently recommends significant cutbacks to the timber harvested in the Black Hills. This recommendation, if implemented, would seriously impact our local timber industry, which is vital to our local economy. The impending move of South Dakota Wildland Fire’s equipment and manpower from Lead to Spearfish is ill-conceived and indefensible. I will sponsor a bill to prevent any move of this important fire protection resource.

2nd Amendment
South Dakota stands firm against any federal government efforts to whittle down our God-given rights enshrined in our Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
The right to bear arms and defend yourself is sacrosanct.

Water and Land
Without truly taking the measure of the long-term costs to our ranchers and farmers, not to mention the residents who’ve been here since before this influx, we are heading for a potential disaster. We need to seriously consider where new housing is placed and ensure that there is adequate water.
The proposed 30x30 federal land grab cannot be allowed to happen in South Dakota or anywhere in the United States.
